How can we help?

Getting started

›What is ResidentData?

A verified history for a home, like a vehicle history report for a car. Owners record repairs, systems, warranties, permits and inspections; buyers, lenders and insurers can look up the home's rating and, with the owner's permission, its full report.

›Does it cost anything for homeowners?

No. Accounts are free for homeowners. Many profiles are paid for by a sponsor, such as the real estate agent or title company you worked with.

Sponsor pricing
›How do I add my home?

Search for your address under Add a home. If the home is already on ResidentData, you claim it with proof of ownership such as a deed or tax statement; staff review the claim. If it isn't, you can add it.

Add a home
›Someone invited me to their home. What can I do?

Owners can add family, property managers and contractors to a home's team. What you can see and add depends on the role the owner gave you. Records you add are reviewed by the owner before they are shared.

Records and the report

›What counts as proof for a record?

Each record shows how it is supported: an invoice, permit or photo you uploaded, a record entered by a verified pro, or your own statement. Records with documents carry more weight in the ResidentData Rating.

›Who can see my records?

You choose a visibility for every record: only you, your home team, or public. Buyers looking up your home only see public records, and only see the full report if you allow it.

›How do I share my report?

Open the home, go to Reports, and create a report. You can download the PDF, create a share link with an expiry date, or email it. Every report has a QR code and an ID anyone can use to confirm it is genuine.

How the rating works
›A record about my home is wrong. What do I do?

Open the record and choose Dispute. ResidentData staff review disputes and can correct or remove a record. The record is marked as disputed while it is reviewed.

Buying and looking up homes

›How do I look up a home?

Use Check a home and search by address, MLS number, ResidentData ID, or the owner's name and ZIP when the owner allows it. You can also browse every listed home in All homes.

Check a home
›How do I save homes I'm interested in?

Tap the heart on a home in All homes, in search results or on the home's page. Saved homes keeps them together with your private notes, a comparison table and any change in rating since you saved them.

Saved homes
›Why can't I see the full report?

Owners choose whether their report is available to anyone, available on request, or hidden. When it is on request, send the owner a request with your reason; you'll be notified when they answer.

›Is the ResidentData Rating an inspection or appraisal?

No. The rating summarizes the home's recorded history. It doesn't replace a professional inspection, appraisal or title search.

Rating method

Marketplace

›Who sees my contact details?

Only the company you send a request to, and only after you tick the consent box on that request. ResidentData doesn't pass your details to any other company.

Marketplace
›Does ResidentData recommend these companies?

No. Listings are advertisements written by each company. ResidentData checks the license number shown before a listing goes live, but doesn't recommend or guarantee any company, rate or policy.

›How do I list my company?

Create a company account (lender, insurance agency, brokerage, title or home warranty company), then open Your listing from the marketplace. Listings go live after ResidentData staff check them.

Home Projects and pros

›What is Home Projects?

A workspace for a repair or renovation: scope, your estimate, bids, contracts, schedule, changes, inspections, invoices and closeout. When you close a project, one summary record is added to the home's history. Budgets, bids and contracts stay private.

›How do contractors send me a bid?

In a project's Bids tab, invite a company by email. They get a private link to see the scope and submit a bid without an account. Bids land in your comparison table.

›How do I approve an invoice?

Contractors you've awarded work to can send invoices through their project link. You approve or dispute each one in the Budget tab before you record a payment.

›What does a verified pro mean?

ResidentData staff checked the business's license and insurance. Verified pros' records on your home carry more weight.

Sponsors and companies

›How does sponsoring a home work?

A sponsor pays for a homeowner's profile and invites them to it. Your branding appears on the profile while the sponsorship is active, but you can't see or change the owner's private records.

›How do I add my logo, photos or a video?

Sponsor administrators open the sponsor dashboard and choose Logo, photos and video. Upload a logo, up to 12 photos and one video (or a YouTube or Vimeo link). Each shows on your public sponsor page and on the homes you sponsor once ResidentData approves it. Ads you make in Ad Studio for a home you sponsor say "Sponsored by" your company.

Sponsor profile
›Where do I sign in as a sponsor?

Use Sponsor sign in, or go to the sponsors page. You'll land on your sponsor dashboard with invites, renewals and engagement.

Sponsor sign in
›How do I add people from my company?

Company administrators invite teammates from the Team page. Each invitation is tied to the email address it was sent to.

Account, privacy and security

›How do I change my password or email preferences?

Open your name in the top bar to reach Profile and settings.

Settings
›How are payments handled?

Card payments are handled by Stripe. ResidentData never stores full card numbers.

›I think someone else used my account.

Change your password in Settings, which signs out other devices, and contact support so we can review the account's activity.
